Numbers 16…cool stuff

So i was doing my Bible reading today and i came across this really slamming scripture.

Let me give you a little background first. The 12 spies had just gotten back from the promise land with 10 giving a bad report. The Lord said none of the people over 20 will see the promise land, except for Joshua and Caleb. well needless to say the Israelite felt jipped; they left Egypt only to die in the desert. a few Levites rebelled against Moses and Aaron and were swallowed up by the ground, but before they died, they planted seeds of discourse in the people. The lord became very angry and started a plague among them. Now this scripture is slammin.

Numbers 16
16:43
Then Moses and Aaron went to the front of the Tent of Meeting,
16:44
and the Lord said to Moses,
16:45
“Get away from this assembly so I can put an end to them at once.” And they fell facedown.
16:46
Then Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer and put incense in it, along with fire from the altar, and hurry to the assembly to make atonement for them. Wrath has come out from the Lord; the plague has started.
16:47
So Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the midst of the assembly. The plague had already started among the people, but Aaron offered the incense and made atonement for them.

He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped.

so i was reading this and it really spoke to me on what Jesus did for us. He made atonement for our sin, stood in the gap for us, and turned God’s wrath.

Real cool, but it also speaks to me of what we have to do as Christians. No, we can’t make atonement for people, but we surely can extend ourselves into that Gap. We have the answer that they need. We know the Bridge.

Sorry it’s been so long since my last post. I apologize and will try not to let it happen again. I’ve been really busy alot lately. Busier than i was before that is. We had a ton of guest the past two weeks, so it’s been alot of work calling, emailing, writing letters, and inputting them into the database. On top of that, i have other duties. Also this past friday we had our first Epic Weekend. It was alot of work, but so worth it. We had about a hundred kids between pathfinders and Refuge, and they were going crazy. I was stressed out most of the night, worried for most of the rest of the night, and yet surprisingly fulfilled. During worship i snuck off in between two blow up games and just focused on God. I had to let alot of things go last night, otherwise, i feel, i wouldn’t be as affective in ministry as God would have me. So last night was awesome. And today was Servalution. We had about 500 volunteers stretched out over the greater baton rouge area, all serving it up. We had a block party, car washes, house makeovers, food and water giveways and few other things. It was amazing. God really moved. It’s so refreshing to be a part of a church that is willing, even compelled to move outside of its four walls to reach the community. HPC is definetly doing ministry Jesus Style!!!

stuff

Well i’ve been wanting to post for awhile, but i’v just been so busy. so here i am squeezing in a few words between services. so as you know, T-Barry up and moved the other day. it’s been really hard. He’s such a cool guy; such a man of God. His/your presence will and is deeply missed by all of us. I know God has a massive call on his life and it won’t be long before the booglers or whatever their name is are all living for Jesus. Rock it for Jesus.

So God has really been challenging me with patience lately. as you know i’ve been living with five other guys in an apart;ment. granted it’s a very nice place, but still there can be some tention. so god’s been stretching me and i’m growing closer to Him because of it.

Little update on how faithful God is. Last Wednesday was OneWay, and Coleen did an amazing job on offering. So i felt really impressed upon to give. and let’s just say that God is really really good. in the course of the next two days God gave me back 10x’s as much as i gave Him. His word is so faithful. He is so faithful.

And finally i can’t wait for this weekend. Last night at the game was extremley stressful, a night ful of miscomunication and underplanning. Anyway today at 2 we leave to go on a solitude retreat, which is going to be amazing. i can’t wait to just sit and listen and relax. it’s going to be so peacefull.

oh and i just have to dog leah and few people, for really hurting my feeling about not getting invited to eat sushi, when i know a few of them know i love sushi…you know who you are ;(

Distractions

So the devil has really been trying to distract me alot lately. I won’t go into any details because they’re not important. What’s important is that the devil and I both know that God is doing something great in my life this year through Elevate. I know i can’t be distracted by the schemes of the devil. So here’s the scripture that God is really using to comfort and keep me on track:

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. Philippians 4:6-8

In my time in Elevate, i can’t be distracted by things that are unimportant at this time. it’s comforting to know that when i pray to God, He hears me and will gaurd my heart and mind. and then the tail end of this scripture reminds me where to keep my thoughts.

Big ol’ heavy treehey guys, so today we finally finished cutting up that big tree from the last post. God is so faithful. we worked on that stupid tree for almost 12 hours or so and were supposed to get 100 bucks for it. well, he ended up paying us each 175 which is a huge blessing because this weekend is our “random fundraising weekend” and we have to raise 200 dollors… yeah God’s awesome.

i really don’t know what to post about except that God is just so awesome. i am absolutely loving Elevate!!!! Yeah, it’s alot of work and alot of stuff to do, but it’s so worth it. the relationships i’m building with the guys in my apartment will have eternal value. The stuff i’m learning will have eternal value. The hands on experience will prepare me to leave an eternal impact. I am just super syked about all that God is doing in my life in this season. i really can’t explain this joy that i’m feeling right now. so yeah. that’s about all i wanted to say!!!
